This isn't just a blog, its a dream diary
July 3rd, 2009
Whoah what happened?! I haven't made a blog entry in ages! I've just been really busy with so many different things lately, like my new job with CIA/3Web for instance. It's full time and actually quite fun at times. Just thought I'd put this in today... will be back again soon to note down another interesting recipe or perhaps a wild dream I've had.September 18th, 2008
Well I finally have my business site online, it's not quite finished yet and still needs a bit of polish.HERE it is! Constructive criticism is much appreciated!

Wow its September already, where does the time go??! I added a few hundred metres to my run last night and also ran a completely different route; I found that going a new route was refreshing and I was able to maintain a good level of energy the whole time. Did some more pounding of the pavement today and got a good feeling from a couple of the places I checked out. I sure hope I start working again soon, living in poverty is no fun at all!August 31st, 2008
I wanted to use the same puff-pastry that I make for my croissants in making bouchées à la reine. Here are the pictures and recipe for these. Yum yum!August 14th, 2008
Today I checked out the new Shoppers Drug Mart near my place; its at the corner of Vickers and Arthur Street. It looks like they're still putting on some finishing touches, but their shelves were already filled. This street corner is also the place where I always start my run recently. I go from there to Ridgeway, and then run west until Vickers park. I go around the park and then southward all the way to Saint Patrick's high-school. Then I turn back eastward along Walsh all the way to Syndicate Ave. Here I turn north and return back to my neck of the woods. It's about 4 kilometres, and lately I do it almost every night. Tonight will be no exception.

Made 'pot-au-feu' last night and actually ended up bringing it over to buddy's. I was pleasantly surprised to see Matty and Wayne actually enjoying it; the way I make it is with both porc and beef. I have to admit I think it did turn out pretty good. Here is the recipe:

Went to the eye doctor today to get my eyes checked and got a new prescription. He also gave me some disposable contact-lenses to try out....I haven't worn contacts since high-school! The drops the doctor used in my eyes during the examination I found quite troublesome. For a couple hours afterwards my vision was a little blurry and I felt, well, strange! It has worn off now though. I also baked up my homemade sourdough today too, and I have to say that it sure turned out nicely. If only I had a better oven!! It wasn't too bad though. I am quite happy with it!

Despite the fact that it seems the world is spiraling down into darkness, I had a good week. Wednesday evening we went out to Kenny's camp at Silver Islet, which was truly wonderful. Unfortunately, my rechargeable Ni-MH batteries are dunzo. So I didn't bring the camera out to take pics. It was funny though. I made the burgers too big. The boys complained. We played bocce-ball beside the lake, and more than once had to retrieve balls from the water. A great time out there, as usual.Last night I dropped by to see if Mr. Concentrated Evil was home. Sure enough he was, and a few of the boys were over there, like always, encouraging him in his vices. Poor guy, one hates to see a friend continue like this. Oh, and yeah, this is the week, I'm going to make it happen!

Wow what a fun day today was. I have to come to the conclusion that the more time I spend outside, the better I feel. It was nice to get up today and get out and away from the bad dreams of the previous night. Across the street they are renovating the old hospital, and the sight of the old brick and stone walls is enough to induce a daydream ghost... which is why its nice to get out and into the warm summer sunshine. Afterwards it's off to pursue ambitions, climb mountains, seek enlightenment. Oh, and I definitely have to get my eyes checked soon, I think they've gotten worse. Tonight was one of preparation, not just a rising dough, but I even got a sour ferment started. As I type this, it bubbles and grows in a bowl sitting on top of my computer.July 16th, 2008
Made toast for breakfast, along with my big daily cup of strong coffee. That's how I roll. Decided to make a good random-pics page. It's COMIMG SOON.July 3rd, 2008
My good friend Jason took me sailing today. It was truly wonderful...I had never been sailing before. He has a nice 20-foot sailboat, and it didn't take long for us to be moving around the harbour with wind power. The main, the tiller, the jib, these and other terms I quickly learned. It was quite thrilling to feel the winds moving us, as we did our best to go where we wanted by adjusting the tiller and the ropes to the jib. At one point we almost had a disaster when one of the ropes to the jib came undone. Jason promptly instructed me to climb up and tie a fresh knot to it. I felt like a sailor! Back in port we shared a bottle of wine, and my friend showed me some of the electronic systems for the boat, including a GPS system as well as radar. Yes, I'd go sailing again. "Aye aye captain!" Photos can be seen here.June 28th, 2008
Yet another rainy day in Thunder Bay. I'm trying not to let it affect me that much, easier said than done. It's Saturday. My phone is ringing off the hook from all of my friends trying to call me and ask me what I am up to. There is also a constant knocking at my door. Sarcasm. Soon I am going to head down to my neigborhood gym; the iron is always there for me.Man, the White Stripes sound so good rocking out of my speakers right now. There's something to be said for the blues, that's for sure.
Yeah the gym. I think burning these shoulders is going to be the order of the day. What else is there? Anyone?? Anyone?

Today's blog entry is about sweating. I hate muggy weather! Well, that's it for now, off to lunch.June 21st, 2008
I live for Saturdays. Saturdays are lazy days, sleeping in and going for coffee with dad in the afternoon. Sit around the house and relax, maybe chat online with an old friend or fight off insane spam emails. It's my friend Kelly's birthday so we went out for some drinks and snacks about the town in Port Arthur. Starting at the Lot, we ran into an old gf and my ol' buddy, had snacks and a nice pint of Steamwhistle! After that it was chasing the town down; everywhere we went was deserted. Oh well. It was still a marvelous time, my old friend turning 33 and all. I thought for sure it would rain or storm... all day giant cumulonimbus clouds circled the Lakehead, one massive mushroom cloud made me a firm believer that a tornado was on its way. It's now Sunday the 22nd. One last day. Work Monday.

I baked the traditional french baguettes today. It was a lot of work and it took care to follow the recipe accurately (as accurately as I could, given my limited baking venue) and yet some real magic came out of the oven finally. I took pictures of the results and created a page to show them at my other site. you can see them here. My appartment smells fabulous, and now I have this whole batch of beautiful bread. More to come.June 19th, 2008
Today is the first day I am putting my blog online. I doubt that I'll have any readers, but at least now I can send people the link and tell them "yep, I have my very own homemade blog." W00t!!I had a nice light lunch, the sun is shining out and I don't work today. In a while I have to go buy flour to make bread. The gym is calling me too, I think its going to be a chest day. My tendonitis is still bugging me in my left elbow, so I can't do arms for a while yet. Just rest it, put ice on it, that sort of thing. Tomorrow is Friday. Something tells me the boys want to get out for a bit, the Port Arthur faction specifically. Last night was the Madhouse, oh I love the Madhouse!
At lunch my roomie Ken came by and we had a great talk about how society is going down the pipe. It really is. Look around you and ask yourself what things will be like in another 30 years. Scary eh? Hopefully you are not naive enough to think that things in general are getting better!
